Shots Maps Analysis
Goal
This football analytics project dives into scoring patterns across Europe's top leagues through detailed shot data analysis. I'm scraping coordinate data for every shot taken in the top 5 leagues, focusing particularly on the locations and characteristics of successful goals from the leading scorers.
Result
The heart of the project lies in transforming these raw coordinates into rich visual shot maps that tell the story of how each top striker finds the back of the net. When processing the data, I compile key metrics like expected goals, actual scoring rates, and shooting distances to paint a complete picture of each player's finishing prowess.
The visualization phase brings this data to life through detailed shot maps plotted on a football pitch diagram. Each goal gets marked at its exact location, with additional context like shot type and placement adding depth to the analysis. The final output combines these striking visual elements with statistical insights, revealing patterns in how elite forwards approach their craft - from their preferred shooting positions to their efficiency from various locations on the pitch.
This project exemplifies the power of thoughtful design and strategic execution ✨. By staying true to the core vision, we have set a new standard for future endeavors.
