Platon Tinios
Professor at University of Piraeus
I know Mr.Tsopanoglou reasonably well, given that I taught him for four courses at
Piraeus University: compulsory first year Macroeconomics (pass grade 10/10),
second-year Social Insurance (10/10), third year Insurance Economics (10/10) and
final year Economics of Ageing (10/10) . These courses deal with economic concepts
and real world applications and are graded mostly by essay questions testing
comprehension, breadth of understanding and the ability to build a reasoned
argument. His excellent performance in those subjects testifies to his application and
is partly due to the submission of interesting optional term papers.
His grades place him at the top 15% or so of our Department, which in any case is known for marking
conservatively. An
important point to note is that fewer than 10% of our students manage to complete
the course in the minimum four years (he is likely to complete the degree by
February 2025 if not earlier).
It is obvious from the above that Mr.Tsopanoglou is a person of ability. This quality
will serve him well in a master’s course of his own choosing, while he is likely to
respond well to the challenges of studying in English.
In conclusion, I have no reservations to recommend him.
